DotA 2 is a game of team play. If your team is so helpful , try to talk with them. It may seem ridiculous to a beginner teaching players a long time to help others.

For matches where the team with efficiency, learn that the Chat and sharpener (Alt + click on the map) are great tools. You can tell if an enemy left their lane saying “so and so miss” or “so-and-so left” and use the pointer to indicate the lane. If you have more information, you can speak “so miss, bot, mid rising by the river”. This really helps in traps. Whenever you see a hero by map, somewhere risky (e.g. going toward the lane of an ally) advise and point on the map where it was to help your team.
Try to always learn more. DotA is a flexible game, with various types of strategy. Even if you play nicely with one or two heros, that doesn’t mean much. Learn all the heroes of the game. It may take a while, but it is rewarding. Nothing worse than being hit and even die for something that you don’t know or how it works. Learn about the the most used heroes at least. Know your strengths and weaknesses.

This has already been said so many times that even seems to stick, but there is no perfect BUILD and no perfect hero. Each game situation requires different items. The enemy team has powerful magic users? A Magic Wand is quite useful. The opposing team calls with magic attacks all the time? A Hood of Defiance falls as well. Your hero has as much resistance as a certain purple Toad (who is?)? Make an item that give strength, as a Poor Man’s Shield, Vitality Booster or even Vanguard. Always know your enemies to know what to use.
